Our team is proud to welcome Alisha Pedowitz (she/her/hers) as our newest Senior Educator! Alisha joins us after five years as the Director of Teen Education for Moving Traditions. In that role, she oversaw flagship programs including Rosh Hodesh, Shevet, Tzelem, and Raising up Teens, and worked on Culture Shift, an initiative to train staff at camps and youth organizations about navigating gender, and creating healthy boundaries.
Alisha has worked as an educator in both the day school and camping world, and at our sister organization, the Los Angeles BJE/Builders of Jewish Education. She brings a host of skills in experiential education to our team, and has a deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging as core components of Jewish life. Alisha will support professionals in the mental health and wellness needs of teens, as well as a variety of new training areas emerging from our strategic plan.
Alisha and her family are based in Los Angeles. Her first day with us is October 9, and we can’t wait for you to meet her.
A Message from Alisha
I am excited and honored to join the team at Jewish LearningWorks. I am a deep believer that to be an educator is to be part of the holy work of empowering others with the knowledge and skills to transform not just themselves but their communities. Some of my most meaningful experiences as an educator have been in supporting other educators and educational institutions in expanding and innovating how they do this for their own learners. I look forward to joining the Jewish LearningWorks team to be in service of the many committed Jewish educators in the Bay Area who do this sacred work!
