Many Jewish LearningWorks workshops, programs and events are held midweek during school hours, preventing many day school educators from benefitting from these professional learning and networking opportunities.
Last year, we decided to inquire with Bay Area Jewish day schools as to what they needed most. Their answers were varied, thus we decided to offer each day school a $1,500 professional development grant to be used towards their most pressing training and team building needs.
We were excited to learn that nine of the 11 Bay Area day schools took advantage of this offering. Some schools used the funds to participate in a national program, such as Hebrew at the Center (HATC) membership or Jewish New Teacher Project (JNTP). Others were able to offer a training to their entire staff that otherwise would not have happened, whether that was Youth Mental Health First Aid certification or additional Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging work. Wornick Day School, used their funds to create an off-site retreat for the Judaic Studies team.
This year, the Jewish LearningWorks Professional Development Grant for Day School Professionals will be offered again to all 11 Bay Area Schools. The funding for this grant comes from our operating budget, as part of our commitment to partner with and support our local day schools, and to amplify their work.
Applications for the grant will be accepted until November 1, 2022. If you have any questions about eligibility or grant criteria, do not hesitate to contact Deb Massey at [email protected].
