Join us on May 9 at the Peninsula JCC for an in-person gathering to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2023 Ruby Award Winner, Meg Adler, and Jewish youth professionals throughout the Bay Area. Our morning program will offer opportunities to learn with colleagues, enjoy an outdoor lunch, and celebrate together.

Navigating understanding and beliefs about gender, and its impact on our lives adolescence has become a central theme in the lives of adolescents. Recognizing this, our learning this year will focus on gender and its role in adolescent well-being. This interactive session will be led by Alisha Pedowitz, Director of Teen Education at Moving Traditions.

Gender & Well-being for Every Teen

Alisha Pedowitz will help us look at how pre-teens and teens are interacting with the changing world of gender codes, norms, expression, identity, and language and discuss ways to create more inclusive environments for all teens. This session will discuss the experiences of boys, girls, trans and non-binary teens.

The Ruby Award is given in honor of longtime teen advocate Rob Ruby. We are proud to recognize the impact Jewish youth professionals have on the lives of our young people.

Covid Policy

Following the PJCC’s Covid Policy, all guests will be asked to show proof of immunization at arrival. This will be an indoors event, food will be served outdoors, and masks will be optional.

About Our Keynote Speaker

Alisha Pedowitz (she/her) is the Director of Teen Education at Moving Traditions, where she works to inspire Jewish youth to live and act as their fullest selves. Alisha believes that when we support teens in aligning and actualizing their values within themselves, between one another, and within society, we help them flourish. She has worked as an educator and communal professional at Jewish camps, schools, and agencies throughout California, and serves as the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors at JQ International, which supports inclusion for LGBTQ Jews in our communities. Alisha holds an MA Ed. with a Concentration in Experiential Education, an MBA in Nonprofit Management, a BA in Hebrew letters from American Jewish University, and a BA in Psychology from Stanford University.  Her happy place is hiking in the outdoor beauty surrounding Los Angeles with her partner, two teenage children, and Dillon & Cosette, her loveable pit bulls.
