Who We Are

Since it was established in 1898, Jewish LearningWorks (known as the Bureau of Jewish Education before 2012), has been committed to strengthening the Bay Area’s Jewish community by creating and facilitating meaningful opportunities for Jewish learning.

Today, we continue to advance the best of what the field of Jewish education has to offer by elevating the art of Jewish teaching, and the practice of Jewish learning.

What We Do

We are a hub of professional development and community in the Bay Area. Each year, our dynamic team of educators designs group and individualized professional learning programs based on emergent needs. Our programs empower teachers and educational leaders with the knowledge, skills, and tools to help children and teens engage with Jewish wisdom, become resilient, and find a sense of belonging and community.

Our Impact

We believe that any child’s experience is only as good as the role models they encounter at school, at camp, in teen programs, and in other Jewish spaces and places. Jewish LearningWorks supports educators and other leaders across the Bay Area’s Jewish education ecosystem, to ensure that they are well positioned to sustain our community.

With the support of individual donors and foundations, we strengthen more than 140 day schools, congregations, JCCs, camps and youth programs each year, keeping Jewish life meaningful and vibrant, in the Bay Area and beyond.
