Bonnie Lindauer will weave together the story of Hannah G. Solomon, the founder of the National Council of Jewish Women, with the art and craft of writing a picture book. Her presentation will include illustrations by Sofia Moore from Hannah G. Solomon Dared to Make a Difference, Lindauer’s newly published picture book biography. This program will be of interest to members and followers of the National Council of Jewish Women; writers, especially of children’s books; and all those wishing to inspire their children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews to dare to make a positive difference in their communities.

Dr. Antonia Lavine is a lawyer, advocate, and community leader living in San Francisco. With law degrees in both the civil and common law legal systems, she has served on numerous government, UN, and NGO-sponsored projects and panels. She utilizes her expertise in social justice reform and advocacy action in her current positions as Coordinator of the San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking and Executive Director of the National Council of Jewish Women San Francisco.

Bonnie Lindauer is a retired academic librarian who can hardly fall asleep at night without reading. Since reading picture books to her daughter Shamira when she was little, she has loved picture books. After retiring from full-time library work as a reference librarian and coordinator of instructional services, she began her writing journey, studying at the Institute for Children’s Literature and tutoring second and third graders who were reading below grade level. She is a member of the National Council of Jewish Women’s San Francisco section and serves on its scholarship committee. Bonnie lives in San Francisco with her husband, who also is a writer. Hannah G. Solomon Dared to Make a Difference is her debut picture book.

Co-presented by the National Council of Jewish Women San Francisco Section.
