As some book groups gradually begin to resume in-person meetings and others continue to embrace the virtual setting, now is the time to brush up on facilitation skills!

Picking up from January’s book group facilitation session (but there is no need to have attended the earlier session), this workshop will first include an opportunity to learn from veteran book group facilitator Lisa Silverman about directing book group discussions. There will then be break-out sessions offering options for diving deeper into one of three topics: choosing titles, difficult group dynamics, or best practices for virtual meetings. And participants will have the opportunity to discuss a short text together.

Lisa Silverman is a librarian, book group facilitator, book reviewer, and Jewish review journal editor. Most recently the Director of the Sperber Jewish Community Library at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles, she is on the board of the Association of Jewish Libraries and has been a judge for the National Jewish Book Awards.

This program is made possible by Anne Germanacos.
