New JCRC Networking Group for Jewish Teachers in the Bay Area

The Bay Area’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) has launched their newest networking group: Jewish Teachers Bay Area (TUBA). With TUBA, JCRC hopes to provide Bay Area teachers with F.O.C.U.S. – a supportive and community building resource, particularly beneficial for Jewish educators working outside of Jewish educational settings.

The acronym F.O.C.U.S stands for:

Foster a Support System

Foster a support system that uplifts Jewish educators by serving as a community for networking, sharing experiences, and building relationships both online and in person.

Organize social and educational events

Organize social and educational events to support the work of Jewish educators.

Create a space for Jewish educators

Create a space for Jewish educators to exchange curriculum, teaching strategies, and other ideas while strengthening skills and addressing issues of common concern.

Universalize the inclusion of Jews and Jewish life

Universalize the inclusion of Jews and Jewish life as a valued part of the diverse tapestry of experiences accepted and presented in Bay Area classrooms.

Support the greater educational community

Support the greater educational community’s recognition and understanding of Jewish culture.

The group is intended for Jewish TK-12 educators (including classroom teachers, specialists, librarians, TOSAs, and other certificated, non-admin school staff) working or living in Alameda, San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Contra Costa, San Mateo or Santa Clara counties.

Those interested in joining should complete the TUBA interest form or email Allison Barnes at abarnes@jcrc.org.
