EMPOWERING ART EXPERIENCES FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
Jewish LearningWorks is excited to continue to offer ECE Professional Learning Days for Jewish early childhood educators across the bay area. This professional development session invites educators to explore the value of process-based art as a meaningful way to give children opportunities to be creative, learn and practice new skills through developmentally appropriate practice.
Participants will have an opportunity to explore the characteristics of process-based art and the developmental skills children practice through open-ended artistic experiences, including creativity, problem-solving, decision-making, self-expression, and exploration. Participants will also consider how trauma-informed practices can create safe, responsive, and empowering art experiences for young children. Through a Jewish educational lens, educators will reflect on the connections between art, creativity, identity, and meaning-making. The session will conclude with opportunities for hands-on exploration, reflection, and the development of practical next steps for incorporating process-based art into early childhood classrooms.
