Strength, Stress, and Support: A Portrait of American Jewish Teen Well-Being

Join the Bay Area Jewish Youth Resilience Roundtable and BeWell as we explore the research findings from the first ever study of well-being for American Jewish Teens, and the implications for work in Jewish education.

How are Jewish teens really doing? What are our opportunities as Jewish educators to support them?

Our day together will explore the sources of strength, areas of stress, and opportunities for support for Jewish teens highlighted by BeWell’s research findings.

Program Details

  • Date: Thursday, October 23, 2025.
  • Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.
  • Location: Jewish Federation Bay Area (121 Steuart St, San Francisco, CA 94105).

A full schedule will be provided to member organizations upon registering. Reminders to RSVP, locations or Zoom links will be sent to all participants enrolled.

Sessions & Experiences

The flow of the day will include:

  • Unpacking identity centrality, and incorporating Jewish wisdom and contemporary practices for teens to experience Jewish community as one that enhances their sense of connection, purpose, and overall well-being.
  • Tools for “storytelling for case making” to help move stakeholders to prioritize the well-being needs of Jewish teens.
  • Models of support, including best practices for creating supportive spaces for peer-led support.

Participant fee: The program fee is $40 per participant.

About Our Facilitators

Sara Allen, Executive Director, BeWell and Associate Vice President, Community & Jewish Life / JFNA. Sara Allen is an all-in team builder with an entrepreneurial spirit and track record of creating lasting impact. She draws on more than two decades in public relations representing cutting-edge global brands such as Skype, Viber and Nintendo, as well as a decade in the Jewish innovation space. Recognized as an impassioned advocate and driving force behind identifying and implementing breakthrough strategies, Sara serves as the Founding Executive Director of BeWell, the mental health initiative of Jewish Federations of North America. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of the Jewish Teen Education and Engagement Funder Collaborative, a philanthropic experiment to create, scale and sustain contemporary approaches to meaningful Jewish teen engagement and growth. Sara earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology at the University of Virginia.

Beth Lipschutz, Wellness Educator, BeWell. Beth Lipschutz is dedicated to creating and facilitating different mental wellness programs and training in a variety of settings throughout the Jewish community. She is committed to supporting the mental health and wellness of youth and those who care about them. Her career has been focused on community building, leadership development, inclusion, and mental wellness education. Before BeWell, Beth was the Regional Director of a North American youth engagement organization and spent many summers at camp or leading teen immersive travel experiences. She earned her MSW at the University of Denver and is also a Youth and Teen Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She lives in Denver and enjoys live music and the mountains.
