COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE

A community of practice (CoP) is a group of people with shared interests, who come together to fulfill both individual and group goals. CoPs often focus on sharing best practices and creating new knowledge to advance professional practice. Jewish LearningWorks’ CoPs are designed to help you grow professionally and deepen collegial relationships.

Opportunities Include

Spiritually Centered Judaism Community of Practice

For all Jewish educators seeking to deepen opportunities to integrate spirituality within their teaching

Following Dr. Lisa Miller’s powerful keynote on the neuroprotective power of spirituality at our 2025 Soul FULL gathering, we invite educators to join a new Soul FULL community of practice. Together we will explore educational pedagogies and practices that cultivate a spiritually infused Judaism. The Soul FULL Community of Practice will meet from September 2025 to May 2026. Registration is open until September 2 or when the program is full.

Early Childhood Education Community of Practice

For Jewish preschool directors

The Bay Area is home to forty Jewish Early Childhood centers in a range of settings. Jewish LearningWorks convenes the directors of these schools monthly to connect and learn from each other. We also host an annual retreat.

For more information about this year-long opportunity, please contact Ellen Lefkowitz, Senior Educator, at ellen@jewishearning.works.

Israel Learning Lab Community of Practice

For participants of the 2024–25 Israel LearningLab

The Israel LearningLab was created as a collaborative platform for Bay Area educators to explore the how and why of Israel education following October 7, 2023. As teachers of values, history, and identity, we are continuing to work collaboratively to respond to the evolving needs of learners.
