Ari L. Monts will lead a participatory exploration of the intersections between liturgy, gender, and performance in Jewish life.

Ari L. Monts is an independent scholar, artist, and queer liturgist based in Austin, Texas. They hold a BA in music and theater and in women’s and gender studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and completed coursework towards a PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. Their research explores the role of participatory performance rituals and community formation. Monts previously worked as an educator in children’s spiritual formation, and is now the program and communications manager at New York’s Lab/Shul.
