Congregational educators from San Francisco, Marin and the Peninsula are gathering in a Community of Practice to support each other to explore strategies for staff supervision, curriculum design, engaging parents, and most recently, changes to our programs to respond to new health and safety requirements. Jenni Mangel serves as the lead professional from Jewish LearningWorks to hold the group’s space and will co-create the arc of learning for the sessions with participants.
Topics of study for the group in Summer 2020 include:
  • Creating meaningful and sustainable education, high holiday, and family programming in an age of social distancing and video conference learning spaces
  • Strategies/best practices for opening school, including ideas for hybrid education models.
  • Sharing resources/demonstrating techniques for online learning with students.
  • Sharing resources/demonstrating techniques for online teacher training.
  • Policy considerations such as fees and participation requirements for virtual programs.
  • Articulating meaningful learning outcomes for social distance learning; What/how much can we hold students responsible for learning and how do we assess their retention?
